Transcribing Letterhead

Letterhead provides information about the location and the organization associated with the writer and as such, we will include parts of it in the transcribed text.

We want to distinguish between what is printed on the letter and what the author writes because letterhead might not be as accurate—a person might use someone else’s letterhead, or use a letterhead with a place printed on it when they are traveling somewhere else.

We will transcribe the owner of the letterhead and the address, but will not include slogans, lists of staff or officers, or other information from the letterhead. These are visible in the image version.

We also do not transcribe monograms or other shortened versions of the owner's name.
